VOWS Awards 2011

We are delighted to have been short listed for a VOWS Award - as one of the best wedding florists in Scotland. It was an exhausting summer of weddings but we seem to have been rewarded. Thank you to all our brides and grooms for nominating us. The winner will be revealed on 7th November. Fingers crossed!

1930's style

Today we were asked to create flowers for a 1930s themed event at the new Riverside Museum. We combined dahlia with roses, delphinium, stock, gladioli and carnations (yes, carnations!) to create a bit of vintage retro.

Pretty in Pink

Laura and the team headed to Dunblane on Tuesday to create a wedding using hundreds of glass cylinder vases and floating candles. The bride had chosen Sweet Avalanche roses, Akito roses, pink hydrangea and Tikal phalaenopsis orchids to create a simple but stunning effect. We had to set up around 150 cylinders full of water but we think it was worth it!

The Hour comes to the Mood Flowers Studio

On Monday our studio was turned into a TV studio for a few hours as Nick filmed his latest piece of VT for STV's The Hour, showing online viewers how he creates the flowers for the set every week. Combining rich tones of reds and pinks, using Grand Prix roses, Amalia roses and Protea Waratha, he created a large vase arrangement giving lots of tips along the way. Check out the film on The Hour's website.

Autumn Archway Wedding

Last Sunday Nick and Laura created a beautiful autumnal wedding at Cameron House with a floral archway as the centrepiece. They combined Amnesia roses with hydrangea, rosemary, trailing amaranthus and contorted willow to create bouquets, table centrepieces, a wishing tree, a four tier cake and the archway. The bride was the epitomy of style and a pleasure to work with. Congratulations to Erin and Elliott!

Classic Rose Wedding

Last Saturday Vivienne created a beautiful classic rose wedding for a bride using Avalanche and Sweet Avalanche roses. These roses have beautiful large heads and are the perfect wedding flower.

Friday at Mood Flowers

It's manic in the studio today as we prepare for six weddings this weekend. We're working with lots of beautiful roses including Avalanche, Amnesia and Sweet Avalanche roses as well as amazing Highwood calla lilies. Here's a few sneaky photos taken when the team were having lunch.

The Flower School

Our 2011/12 Flower School classes are well underway. Last Sunday Nick was joined by a fantastic group eager to perfect the Luxury Hand Tied Bouquet. Next class will take place on 20th November and is one of the twice yearly Signature Style Master Classes. Call us on 0845 362 0982 for a brochure or to book your place.

End of Summer Colours

Saturday's weddings were all about bright summer colours. Abbie created a stunning sunflower wedding at the glamorous 29 Royal Exchange Square in Glasgow while Nick headed to Cameron House on Loch Lomond with dozens of vases of Grand Prix roses and Black Beauty vanda orchids. Maybe we can hold onto summer for just a little longer.....

Brig O' Doon Wedding

On Friday Nick and some of the team headed down to Brig O'Doon to set up a beautiful wedding of hydrangea, roses and lisianthus in shades of ivory, pinks and peach. The huge oversize arrangements in the church were the perfect introduction for what lay in store once the guests entered the ballroom.

STV Appeal

On Friday evening Nick headed down to the STV studios to hand over a cheque for over £2,000 which he raised with the other resident experts on 'The Hour", Karon Grieve, Doctor Debbie, Bruce Devlin and Stella Bartram. They spent a great evening at STV HQ with Lorraine Kelly where over £1.2 million was raised on the night.
